Old Fashioned

An absolute classic cocktail and my #1 go-to drink. It's a simple recipe to follow, but I have a few notes. I enjoy bourbon over whiskey in my Old Fashioned, and my favorite brand is Bulleit Bourbon. Also, you don't have to use whiskey ice cubes, but they sure do make a difference (and also make you feel that much more official). Lastly, making your own simple syrup at home is easy as pie. This recipe walks you through it if you care to take it on yourself.

3 dashes bitters (Angostura or Old Fashioned)

2 ounces bourbon or rye whiskey

One 2-inch piece of orange peel
